【Introduction of President】
Professor Qiu Hanqin, PhD of University of Strathclyde, UK, guest professor of Zhejiang University, Tianjin University of Commerce, Oklahoma State University, Chair Professor of South China University of Technology, an Honorary Professor of Shunde Polytechnic, and Teaching Management Consultant of Sun Yat-sen University. She holds academic part-time positions in several institutions. Since 2015, she has been the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality & Tourism. She has been invited to be the Guest Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Journal of Vacation Marketing on China's hotel and tourism development and the Regional Editor of International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. She has published more than 90 high-quality SSCI papers in international mainstream journals on tourism and hotel management, and presented her research results at all major international conferences on tourism. She served as the Leader of the China Master's Program in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and since 1999, she has cooperated with Zhejiang University in the master's program, which has been successfully running for nearly 20 years. Professor Qiu presided over a large number of consulting and training projects in China, including providing training services for the World Tourism Organization, China Hotel Association, China Travel Service (Hong Kong), Guangzhou Hotel Industry Association and other tourism organizations. She presided over the consultation project of the World Tourism Organization in 2000 and 2002, respectively, and designed the overall tourism planning for Yunnan Province and Heilongjiang Province. With the development of high technology in the Internet era, Professor Qiu was invited by the top management of Hong Kong Polytechnic University to lead the teaching innovation. In just one year, she led her team to cooperate with the edX platform founded by MIT and Harvard University in the United States to develop and establish the world's first micro-master's program in international hotel management. This program has received strong support from academic circles and industry. At present, more than 20,000 people from more than 170 countries around the world have registered for participation. Currently, Professor Qiu is invited by UNESCO in Hong Kong as the vice president in charge of continuing education. She looks forward to promoting the concept of lifelong learning of human continuing education through the development of high technology in the Internet era.
During the employment period, Professor Qiu Hanqin served as a chair professor at the School of International Culture and Tourism, aiming at promoting construction of the discipline of tourism and leisure and the major of tourism management in the School, applying the concept of new liberal arts construction to promote interdisciplinary integration and optimization of professional structure, leading the overall improvement of the teachers' level of the tourism management professional team, and guiding the application of tourism management major for national first-class major, master's degree program and doctoral degree program. Professor Qiu has not only an international vision, but also a rich platform for international academic exchanges, which is conducive to helping young and middle-aged teachers to improve their international teaching and research capabilities, and also to providing students with a platform for international exchanges. The tourism management major of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where Professor Qiu once worked, ranks first in Asia, the tourism management major of Nankai University, where she is currently working, ranks third in China, and the tourism management major of Sun Yat-sen University, where she serves as a teaching consultant, ranks first in China. The introduction of Professor Qiu can set up a cooperation platform with famous tourism colleges and universities at home and abroad such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nankai University, Sun Yat-sen University and University of Surrey, UK for teachers and students majoring in tourism management in the School. Meanwhile, it is also conducive to helping the School establish cooperation links with Asia-Pacific Tourism Organization and World Tourism Organization, and it can also guide the School's tourism management major to obtain international certification as soon as possible.
